It has been many whiles since I last posted anything on this blog.. we have been very busy (no kidding :)) thanks soo much for making my mum n uncle busy with your orders. I had fun watching them tire themselves out and smiling non stop while arguing and deciding on which ribbons goes well with what flower. Here are some of the sirih junjung made recently. My mum did this latest sirih junjung with a modern twist.. she didn't do the typical tier design but did it like a flower arrangement.. Still.. it looks very good on a gangsa and not too heavy for some cute hantaran boys and girls :)

My cousin just got engaged recently.. many congratulation my dearest cousin H and his fiancee D. Here is my mum showcasing her latest design of 'tapak sirih' for the engagement hantaran

If only this blog have smellovision :) the smell of lilies and roses fills up the whole room that day.. it beats any air freshener or scented candles..

Notice how 'duit pembuka mulut' is incorporated into the flower arrangement

My aunt suggested to my mum to use crystal stand instead of the normal 'gangsa'. I think it works really nicely..

Nowadays we can have strawberries all year round.. they have the scrumptious colour of red.

My mum tried the new sirih junjung using Antarium flowers (her new favourite).. I like it :) how about u guys?

On previous post I mentioned how we are always tempted to use blue as the colour
scheme to give to the man we love.. why? I guess you can never go wrong with the
colour that is synonimous to boys... men... since the day we were born :) what is it ya..
baby soft blue? creamy dreamy blue? or I'm-so in-love-with-blyou? hehe.. sorry guys..

Green and Silver

Before creating this 'hantaran' my mum was contemplating whether it was a good idea to use green as a colour scheme.. she thought it would be too dull.. She tried on many greens before she perfected it with this creation :) How does my mum n aunt do it.. They always seem to surprise me.. always..

Notice how they introduce a bit of colour to the greens (just a bit), to break the monotony.. and the result just looks chic :)

It was fun doing a purple themed 'sirih junjung' cos u can really have a grand day picking the flowers.. Here, its like a flower party on a 'gangsa' hehe.. so many beautiful flowers to use..

ofcourse the signature bettlenut flower is never forgotten :)

Traditional fruit basket still have its appeal..

Check out the crab-like plant my mum use to decorate the fruit basket!! talk about loud ya hehe.. this is for the zen in you..

Its been a while since I last wrote anything on this blog... sooo busy with lots of orders coming in... thank you for trusting us to take care of one of the most importing part of your wedding :).. Since we first started at the beginning of this year.. our collection have increased in selections in terms of colours (for the 'lapik gangsa') to different types of flowers to go with the colour schemes available, as well as the design of the fruit baskets and 'sirih junjung'. Here are the similar silver box with maroon motif.. It just gives it that extra character from the normal silver boxes available earlier. Mum n Basai are really amazing.. their creative juice just keeps flowing.. No 2 'gubahan' are ever the same. I just hope I get to be half as creative as them.. that is all I ask :)

I love it when 'hantaran' have its personal touch from either the bride or groom.. It just shows that they have gone that extra mile to make it extra extra special for that extra extra extra special someone :) (sigh..) check out this personalised ribbons from the bride to her beloved groom.. Hmmm... what other personalised things can be incorporated into the 'hantaran'... lets see... hidden messages in a scroll... personalised m&m's (I saw my cuz made some when she went to NY hehe..) What else can you think off? :)

Its so nice to have 'saprah' when arranging the 'hantaran' for viewing.. we have white and silver as shown on previous post. We also have cream and gold (which I personally think is really grand) and now we have it in tenunan Brunei which makes the whole presentation timeless and really classic as shown in the picture above.

Mum and Aunt recently had a client requesting for a maroon theme. They used maroon "lapik gangsa" with silver beadings. The flowers were roses of 3 different colours. T

Mum did this design before for a cousin, I have always pestered to do a similar one ever since then.. but it so difficult to find the perfect heart shape foam.. she still thinks this is a bit too big.. I personally think its not bad.. (mum's such a perfectionist hehe..)

Recipe for Spaghetti Bolognaise

As a mother I need to have this in my collection. Recently, friends of my hubby, K & S gave us this recipe. Its so simple that i don't need to chop any carrots and celery.. GREAT!! Tried substituting the red wine with 7up hehe.. goooooddd!! Looks fantastic ya with baked cheese on top. To the newly weds, try to impress your in-laws with this :)

Ingredients

500gm ground lean beef mince
1 can peeled tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
2 teaspoons garlic
1 large onion
1 teaspoon sugar
Sweet Basil (dried)
Origanum (dried)
Thyme (dried)
Salt and pepper
Olive Oil
One cup red wine (optional)
Spaghetti - enough for 4 servings
Grated cheese of your choice

How to make Spaghetti Bolognaise

Peel and chop onion. Fry onion and garlic at high heat for about 5-7 minutes.
Lower heat. Add ground beef and fry until brown.
Add salt, pepper and spices to taste.
Chop peeled tomatoes and add.
Add tomato paste and sugar.
Add red wine (if chosen as option).
Lower heat. Stir well and let simmer for at least 20 minutes.
While bolognaise is simmering cook spaghetti until "al dente".
Serve spaghetti with bolognaise topped off with grated cheese

This is my favourite beef dish from my mum.. i swear! its dry so its very suitable for hantaran as it won't be messy during delivery ;)

My aunt (Basai Fatimah, mum's partner and beloved sister) made this dish.. Really yummy deep fried prawn with dipping sauce at the side. Even nice on its own.

Basai Fatimah being a caterer herself has her own rotisserie. Thus stood this rotisserie chicken proud and yummy in a bed of lettuce

My other Aunt (a friend of the bride's family) is also a fantastic cook. She did this fantastic looking kelupis lapat together with the complimentary beef rendang..

She also did this wajid in pandan leaves arranged in 4 tier circular arrangement. i am sure you guys have not seen this version of "wajid temburong" before :)

Mum makes flower and heart shaped pickled papaya. Trust me this is yummy, have a better crunch than the typical cucumber

These cupcakes.. i make :0) pink sugar paste with bread flowers

Young coconut flesh jelly.. my mums hot selling agar agar dish.. she sells them in the small flower bite size portion as seen on top of the big jelly

mum just loves using lilies :) the young beetle nut looks gorgeous and they really compliment the overall look

Here she uses pink lillies (what did i tell you :) hehe..) with orchids in the silver box

mangoes are a must in a fruit basket yum yum :)

..... and dragon fruit just looks regal :)

The grey concept comes from T (our cute client). We suggested she uses the silver boxes with white 'lapik'. The flowers were kept pastel... sooo tasty :)
